What is the problem?
My father is 55 years old and worked in a large bank in Spain until the first week of June. He has been fired and being 55 years old, nobody will hire him. We live in Spain (Europe).
Why was your father fired? Has he done anything illegal or unethical?
NO. My father has always been a honest worker and has always worked hard.
The company set him a trap sending a person asking my father for help (out of the office and out of work hours). My father, in good faith, helped this person for free. Now, the company is saying my father earned money but that is not true and they know it. Please, understand that I cannot disclose all the details because I fear the company will sue me.
Why would a bank, a respectable company, set a trap to a honest person?
The answer is easy: money.
The bank is paying early-retirement to all workers 55 and older due to an agreement with the labor unions. They are hiring young people (read: cheap labor) to replace old workers.
My father has worked 36 years (since he was 19) for the company. The cost of this early-retirement would have been between $500,000 and $600,000.
By setting my father a trap and then losing the trial (in two years from now, being optimistic), they are saving a lot of money: it is going to cost them between $100,000 and $150,000, that is a saving of over $450,000. For the bank, it's a victory even if they lose the trial. On the other hand, we do not have money to hire a lawyer.
Is this a scam? a fraud?
No. Definitely not. This is 100% real and my family is suffering the bank's despicable behavior. We have a loan to pay and we have no money.
Why don't you help your father?
I am still a student, so I do not have a job or money. I am trying to find a job to bring money in home, but until my father or I find a job, we are out of money. I could barely pay the gas to go to a job interview.
